About Mega Obby

Mega Obby is an obstacle-course platformer built around one loop: see the jump, miss the jump, try again. Levels are short, checkpoints are fair and restarts are instant, so a run that goes wrong costs seconds rather than minutes. It is the closest thing on the App Store and Google Play to the obby courses players know from Roblox, except it installs as a normal mobile game and needs no Roblox account.

Beyond the main courses there are extra modes that change the rules — timed towers, glass floors where half the tiles break, colour-matching tiles and falling-block runs — and a sandbox editor where you place blocks, traps and checkpoints to build a course of your own.

How Mega Obby plays

You control a runner with a virtual stick and a jump button. Every course is a chain of platforms with a hazard on each: spinning beams that sweep you off the edge, tiles that drop a moment after you land, and gaps that need a running start. Clearing a section is about reading the timing rather than reacting fast, which is why the game suits players around 10–15 who want a challenge that is difficult but never unfair.

The sandbox mode is the part players write to us about most. You get the same block set the designers use, place it however you like, and then run your own course to see whether it is actually possible. Sandbox access is part of the premium subscription rather than the free tier — the monetisation table below sets out exactly what premium includes.

What you can do

  • Rainbow obstacle courses with towers, glass floors, falling blocks and rotating beams
  • Sandbox level editor — build a parkour course from the same blocks the levels use (premium)
  • Several extra modes that each change one core rule — five of them are premium
  • 400+ cosmetic items: outfits, hairstyles, gloves, shoes and accessories
  • Leaderboards and daily rewards for players who come back

Tips for your first courses

Walk the first few metres of a new section instead of sprinting — most falls happen because a player commits to a jump before seeing what the platform does. Rotating beams run on fixed timers, so watch one full rotation before you step out. On glass floors, the safe tiles are usually the ones a previous runner already broke around.

Frequently asked questions

Is Mega Obby free?+

It is free to download and the main obstacle courses are free to play. It is not free of purchases: there is an auto-renewing premium subscription — a free three-day trial that becomes $9.99 a week unless you cancel — which covers five premium modes, sandbox access, skin packs, double rewards and ad removal. Individual modes, skins and a separate Remove Ads purchase can also be bought outright. The table on this page lists it all.

Do I need a Roblox account to play Mega Obby?+

No. Mega Obby is a standalone mobile game published by Brainytrainee Ltd. You install it from the App Store or Google Play and play immediately — there is no Roblox account, login or platform connection involved. Brainytrainee is not affiliated with Roblox Corporation.

Which devices does Mega Obby run on?+

iPhone, iPad and iPod touch running iOS 15.0 or later, and Android phones and tablets via Google Play. The controls and level layout are the same on phones and tablets.

Can I build my own obby levels?+

Yes. Sandbox mode gives you the block set used in the game's own courses — platforms, traps, checkpoints — so you can lay out a track and then run it yourself.

What age rating does Mega Obby have?+

Apple rates it 4+ on the App Store and Google rates it Everyone on Google Play. In terms of content: the action is cartoon-style, a missed jump restarts the section, and there is no gore, horror or open chat with other players. Whether that suits a particular child is a judgement for their parent — our guidance for parents sets out the purchases, ads and device controls to check first.
