Mobile Obby Games That Do Not Require Roblox
Short answer. Yes — you can play obby games without Roblox. Standalone obby titles are published on the App Store and Google Play as ordinary apps: you install one, it opens into a level, and no account or platform login is involved. What a standalone obby cannot give you is the rest of the platform — courses built by other players, a shared avatar, or the social layer.
Disclosure. Brainytrainee Ltd publishes the games listed on this site. This article is written by the publisher, not by an independent reviewer — where it names our own games, treat that as what it is. Games from other studios are included because leaving them out would make the comparison useless, and we do not receive anything for mentioning them.
Why people look for this
The searches behind this question tend to come from three places. A device where the platform is blocked or not installed — a school tablet, a shared family iPad, a phone with restrictions set. A player who wants the gameplay without the account, the sign-in and the storage. And parents who like the genre but not the open, user-generated part of it.
All three are reasonable, and all three are answered the same way: install a standalone obby game.
What you get
The core loop is intact. Platforms, gaps, hazards on timers, tight checkpoints, instant retries — the design does not depend on the platform it was born on.
You also get some things the platform version does not offer. A standalone game installs much smaller and opens directly into gameplay rather than a menu of experiences. The core levels work offline. Content is rated once by Apple and Google, so the rating on the store page describes what you will actually encounter, rather than describing a platform inside which content varies. And there is no account to create, which for a younger player removes a step and a set of decisions.
What you honestly lose
This is the part most articles on this topic skip, so: a standalone obby is not a replacement for a user-generated platform, and anyone telling you otherwise is selling something.
You lose the endless supply of new courses, because they were being made by thousands of other players rather than by a development team. You lose the shared avatar and the cosmetics that travel between games. You lose friends lists, joining someone's session, and the social side generally. And you lose the sheer variety — a platform hosts obbies alongside every other genre.
Some standalone games close part of that gap with a level editor. Ours does: Mega Obby's sandbox mode gives you the block set the built-in courses use. That gets you the building, not the community of builders.
How to spot a safe download
Searches for obby games outside a platform reliably surface sites offering APK files and "unlocked" versions. Do not install those. An APK from a third-party site has not been through Google Play's review, can be modified, and is a common delivery route for adware on Android.
The rules are simple. Install from the App Store or Google Play only. Check the publisher name on the listing, not just the game name — copycat listings reuse titles and icons. And if a game you want is not on your platform, it is not available; a site claiming otherwise is not a shortcut.
For what it is worth, this applies to us too. Every download link on this site points at an official Apple or Google listing under Brainytrainee Ltd, and we do not publish installers anywhere else. Cat Simulator has no Android release at all right now, so any Android download claiming to be it is not ours.
Standalone obby games to try
We publish two. Mega Obby — Parkour Fun Run 3D is the larger one: rainbow courses, several modes that each change a rule, and the sandbox editor. It is on iPhone, iPad and Android, holds 4.5 from 3,633 App Store ratings and 4.7 on Google Play, and is free.
Prison Escape — Obby Challenge is the stricter one: corridors, patrolling guards and laser grids on fixed timers, with 4.5 from 287 App Store ratings. Also free, also on both stores.
They are not the only standalone obbies on either store — browse the platformer category and you will find plenty from other studios. We are simply the ones we can describe accurately. The obby games page has the full comparison, and what is an obby game covers the genre itself.

Frequently asked questions
Can you play obby games without a Roblox account?
Yes. Standalone obby games on the App Store and Google Play install and run as ordinary apps, with no platform account or login required.
Are standalone obby games the same as the ones on Roblox?
The gameplay is the same genre, but a standalone game gives you the levels its developer built rather than an endless supply made by other players, and it has no shared avatar or social layer.
Is it safe to download an obby game APK?
No. Install only from the App Store or Google Play. APK files from third-party sites bypass store review, can be modified, and are a common way adware reaches Android devices.
Do standalone obby games work offline?
The levels in ours do. Leaderboards and other online features need a connection.
Obby Games
An obby is an obstacle course you run on foot: platforms, gaps, moving hazards and a finish line. Brainytrainee publishes two of them for iPhone, iPad and Android — Mega Obby and Prison Escape — and both install as ordinary mobile games with no Roblox account involved.
